The Lavender Orpington is a rare new breed in the USA, though very well known throughout the UK and Europe. Lavender Orpingtons are docile, gentle, and very friendly. This makes them easy targets for bullies so you should keep them away from aggressive birds.
Chickens of this breed are non-aggressive to humans. In fact, more times than not, they love sticking around their owners. They will jump in for treats and cuddles and they generally make great pets.
The average Lavender Orpington rooster will grow to weight about 8.5 lbs, while the hen will weigh around 6lbs. The hens will lay about 150-200 medium sized, light brown eggs per year.

This breed can have long laying seasons and will lay late into November and December and are the first to start up again in January. The hens tend to become broody. They are hardy, friendly, inquisitive and active.

Easter Eggers & Olive Eggers

The Easter Egger is a popular yet unconventional breed. Some have muffs and beards whilst other do not. It is uncommon to find two with the exact same plummage and are definitely a one of a kind bird. These hybrid chickens are robust, healthy and rarely suffer from anything more serious than parasites in their early years.
These are cold hardy chickens and lay an average of 200 eggs per year in shades of light blue, seafoam green, dark green, olive or pink. Each chicken only lays a single color though it may have some speckling on them.
French Black Copper Maran

The French Black Copper Maran lays beautiful dark chocolate brown eggs and became infamous for the striking color. While these chickens are quite docile, you won't find them jumping into your lap for a cuddle. They like to be active and enjoy free range though will tolerate containment well too. They sport light feathering on the legs.
These are cold hardy chickens and lay an average of 240 eggs per year. .
